Celebrating the Mother of our Lord
As Lent approaches we have made decisions on what we may “give up” or “do” during this holy season. Often we get discouraged because by the second or third week of Lent, our expectations are not being met with the same enthusiasm as the first day. Because our bishop, Most Rev. Robert Guglielmone has designated 2017 a Marian Year in honor of the 100th year anniversary of the apparitions of Our Lady of Fatima, it might be appropriate to consider inviting the Blessed Mother with us on our Lenten journey. We are called to pray, fast, and give alms but can you imagine all these things passing through the hands of Our Lady. When St. Juan Diego picked the flowers and gave them to Our Lady of Guadalupe, she arranged them in his tilma and today we are blessed with her miraculous image. Could you imagine the possible fruits that might result from our Lenten offerings if we handed them to Mary for her to arrange beautifully for her Son?

This summer, children can ride the Queen of Heaven Express with Catholic Kidz Camp. This innovative vacation bible school program, developed by Growing with the Saints and Family Rosary, connects the Joyful Mysteries of the Rosary with today’s youth in a fun and spiritually moving way. It is now available for order by directors of religious education, parish priests, catechists and others who instruct children.
