Director Of Human Resources Diocese of Charleston(FT, Charleston, SC)

The Diocese of Charleston includes parishes, schools, Catholic Charities and diocesan administrative offices in multiple locations throughout the entire state of South Carolina (approximately 2000 employees). Currently we are searching for an experienced Human Resources Director to direct and oversee the implementation of all human resources functions of the diocese. Responsibilities include: full cycle employee recruitment, development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures, compensation and benefits administration, personnel records retention, employee relations and management training.

The chosen candidate will create and guide a strategic vision that will enable the diocese to recruit exceptional talent, provide fair and equitable compensation and support a performance–based culture through performance management and development programs.

Education, Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field (MA preferred, SPHR highly desirable)
  • 5-10 years of experience as a Human Resources leader/manager
  • Strong expertise in benefit administration and compensation
  • Thorough knowledge of federal and state employment laws including in a nonprofit environment
  • Proven experience in partnering and leading in a multi-location environment
  • Strong skills in use of current technology (HRIS) and modern office methods and procedures
  • Compatible with the vision and values of the Roman Catholic Church
  • Bilingual (Spanish) a plus.

    The Director serves as the primary advisor to the Bishop and Vicar General in matters of stewardship and fundraising.
