Saint Gregory the Great has over 8,000+ parishioners and is located about 10 miles from Hilton Head Island. It has a well-established and dynamic music program consisting of adult and children’s choirs and ensembles and a Hispanic choir. The Parish is seeking a full-time educated, experienced and accomplished organist and choir director that is a practicing Roman Catholic, possessing a BA in Music degree and having a minimum of 5 years experience in a Catholic Parish. A Diocese of Charleston background check will be required for this position.
The candidate will be responsible for the selection of appropriate Catholic worship music that facilitates active participation by parishioners in singing. Recruiting and directing the choirs, ensembles, cantors, instrumentalists and accompanists to perform at the liturgical celebrations, Parish events and concerts requires the candidate to have strong conducting skills. Additionally, the candidate must be well versed in a variety of musical styles and be able to motivate musicians and singers of all ages and level of proficiency. The candidate must also possess excellent communication, collaborative, team building, organization and administrative skills.
