The Diocesan Missionary Team in its second year of service is based out of beautiful and historic downtown Charleston. The DMT’s main ministry outreach is leading retreats throughout the diocese. When the DMT is not giving retreats, they will serve either at a local life teen parish, nearby Catholic High School, or work with college/young adults in the local area.

Finance Manager – (Raleigh - NC)

Holy Name of Jesus Cathedral, the new seat of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Raleigh, seeks a Finance Manager. This position is responsible to the Rector for administering the financial affairs of the church, working with staff to achieve the objectives of the church.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Oversees church finances in the receipt, deposit and disbursement of all church funds in accord with diocesan directives
  • Oversees the purchasing process and maintaining vendor relationships
  • Oversees the preparation of financial reports of ministries
  • Oversees the administering of the payroll for church employees

  • With the Rector represents the parish to the Diocese of Raleigh in all parish financial matters
  • The Finance Manager’s collaboration includes in particular, working closely with the Rector, Parish Finance Council, Diocese of Raleigh, parish staff, schools staff/faculty in order to coordinate activities, share ideas, and develop a consistent comprehensive overall financial plan for the parish

REQUIREMENTS

Facility Manager – (Raleigh - NC) Holy Name of Jesus Cathedral, the new seat of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Raleigh, seeks a Facility Manager.

This position requires substantial hands-on-work as well as management, planning and administration skills.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Immediately responds to urgent maintenance calls and resolves maintenance issues
  • Coordinates report efforts with vendors for more complex maintenance situations
  • Maintains a preventative maintenance programs within the confines of an annual budget which includes all heating, air conditioning, as well as maintenance and repair of buildings and equipment
  • Prepare and submit to the Finance Manager an annual operating budget for anticipated maintenance and pre-approved new projects. Provide necessary management to stay within budget and make recommendations to re-allocate funds to cover unforeseen events through the fiscal year
  • Responsible for defining scope of work, selection, hiring and managing for all sub-contractors including, but not limited to landscaping, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, cleaning, security, network, sound, alarm and telephone systems
  • Assist with, and sometimes lead in the preparation and oversight of special events
  • Identifies problems with the facility in terms of function and appearance, analyzes potential solutions to ensure that the physical space supports the needs of the parish
  • Responsible for specifying and purchasing all materials to be used for either maintaining existing facilities or in the remodeling and construction of new spaces within the facilities outlined above
  • Responsible for the general upkeep of the grounds
  • Responsible for snow removal and de-icing as necessary of all parking lots, driveways, sidewalks and building entrances
  • Serves as facility Emergency Response Coordinator. Maintains plan for fire evacuation and disaster response
  • Responsible for waste disposal and recycling programs
  • Administer the building security system
  • Ensure that all required annual inspections are performed as required by local authorities and any deficiencies noted are corrected as soon as possible
  • Must be able to interpret and comply with all Municipal rules (Codes) and regulations

In addition to the above duties and responsibilities, the Facility Manager will be called upon frequently to assist with tasks such as providing labor to setup and breakdown for events, weddings, funerals, funeral luncheons, cleaning up after apostolate group activities, repairing damaged furniture and vandalism, first line of support for network and phone issues, investigating security issues, coordinating with outside groups that want to use the facilities, special projects for the Bishop and/or Rector, provide labor and facility setup for large parish events

REQUIREMENTS
  • Five to seven years of experience working in facilities management, project management, or property management
  • General carpentry, plumbing, HVAC and electrical skills required
  • Possess the skills and ability to successfully resolve small to mid-sized issues directly and to prioritize, schedule and coordinate more complex work which must be outsourced
  • Demonstrated ability to work and communicate professionally, verbally and in written form with internal and external customers
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to manage multiple projects using independent judgement and initiative

Spartanburg Regional Campus Minister

The Diocese of Charleston invites applications for a full time campus minister to work collaboratively with local priest chaplain and volunteer campus ministers. This regional position will foster current programming and expand Catholic campus ministry at these campuses. With a local Catholic Student Center the regional campus minister will organize, grow, and empower student programming on each campus, based on the six dimensions of Catholic campus ministry. This campus minister will develop uses of the campus student center as both a gathering location for fellowship and study as well as a worship space. As a member of the Diocesan Catholic Campus Ministry Program the campus minister also communicates with the diocesan office, shares in diocesan CM meetings, and promotes diocesan-wide CM events. This campus minister will collaborate with diocesan director to explore expanded connections with Wofford and the diocese.     Diocese of Charleston (Hispanic Faith Formation Supervisor)

    Key Responsibilities

    A full-time Hispanic Ministry coordinator will be expected to assist with planning, research, and write three year curriculum for the school of Faith and adjunct instructors in Spanish using Church documents and Sacred Scripture. The coordinator is also expected to support the activities of the Director of Hispanic Ministry in advertising classes, registration, and record-keeping of students.

      Assist the Director with the following activities as assigned:
    • Planning, researching, writing adult faith formation curriculum and supporting materials in Spanish according to a sequential three year plan.
    • Teaching adult faith formation classes in Spanish at a variety of sites throughout the diocese. Although most classes are at night, some may be during regular business hours and on weekends.

    • Collaborate with pastors and with other diocesan offices in order to facilitate effective planning and use of diocesan resources.
    • Support diocesan projects as assigned.

      Required Skills and Knowledge
